DIY Holiday Door Hanger

Being a stay at home mom is wonderful, but staying within a tight budget can be hard sometimes, especially when it’s the holidays.  Aside from shopping for presents, decorations can also burn a hole in your pocket!  So, what better way to add some decor to your home with a simple and easy DIY project!
As I began to decorate my house this year, it felt as though something was missing.  I finally realized that all of the white doors in our house were empty.  They looked so bare with all of the other Christmas flare hanging nearby.  With only a wreath on the front door, I wanted something else to hang on the doors on the main floor.  With less than $10, I was able to fix my problem! Do you face this issue, too? Just hop on over to your local Goodwill or Dollar store and you’re all set to get started.
Later that week, I was at Goodwill and happened to come across four small frames for 49 cents a piece.  You can’t beat that!  So, it was time to go and give these puppies a little makeover.
MATERIALS USED:
4 small frames (any size or shape)
Letters (Craft section of Michaels)
Spray Paint (Gold & Red)
Gold Glitter
Scrapbook paper (polka dot)
Holiday Ribbon
Hot Glue Gun
1.  Spray paint the letters.  You can use regular paint as well, whichever you have on hand. Once dried, I used 3M spray adhesive in order for the glitter to stick.
2.  Sprinkle on generous amounts of
gold glitter to cover each letter.

3.  Paint the frames.  I used Krylon’s
Cherry Red spray paint. After they dried completely, I add some festive scrapbook paper to serve as backing.  I chose a simpler design so the letters stood out.

4.  Turn over the frames and place them in a vertical line.  Lay the ribbon down along the center of each frame and glue.  Leave some extra ribbon at the top and bottom. Lastly, glue a tiny piece of ribbon to the top so it will hang symmetrical on the wreath hook!
Because I found 4 frames at Goodwill, I decided to use the word NOEL for my design.
If you would like your door hanger to be a touch shorter, you can use 3 frames with the word JOY!  It works well any way you choose!
