DIY Homemade Playdough

I know, over the course of the next month, many parents will be seeking new activities to help keep their kids busy without using electronics as a babysitter all day long! Now….I know when some see the term “DIY”, you immediately say NEXT, thinking it will require too much time, brain power, and/or supplies. But, this really IS quite simple and easy….AND your kids can help make it, too!

This provides a nice break from the paper/pencil workbooks or e-learning they may be doing for school! A great part is that this truly can be for all ages…even I get my PLAYdoh on and tap into my imagination, attempting to create my own little masterpieces!

I love this homemade version from my son’s preschool teacher! I can trust my 2 year old daughter to play with it, even if she decides to take a taste here and there! It is food-grade safe without many of the chemicals in store bought kinds. We usually go with 1 or 2 colors at a time, but decided to make the entire rainbow since St. Patrick’s Day is tomorrow. Because, why not?

Too many times I go to take out the basket of Playdoh to find a majority of them dried out. Caps not fully sealed…you name it. Instead of having to head to the store and get a whole new set, I can make more! Just seal each in a ziploc bag or a closed container and you’re set!

I sure hope this gives you, parents, some time to get work done while your kids play and get creative! Let’s allow this CV quarantine to provide moments of creativity, fun, and exploration in your home!
