Tis the season for family traditions! This time of year is BUUUUUSY for most of us, with our schedules filling up months before the holidays. In the midst of the chaos, let’s make sure we commit to creating moments that matter…traditions to carry on over the years. There are so many fun activities to do with your friends and family over the next couple of months, BUT, if you don’t plan ahead (even with the best of intentions)….trust me, they won’t happen.
To help you become AND stay motivated, I’m sharing two types of digit printables to download and do! Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, you can participate.
You can choose to download individual Bucket List templates, in the general Winter theme or for Christmas. Each is offered with a blank or pre-filled option, with room for 15 of your ideas. Everyone lives in a different area with unique events offered. Some of you already have special traditions (maybe going to cut down the family tree, visiting a merry market, Ugly Sweater party, riding the Polar Express Train, Breakfast with Santa, See a holiday musical or play, etc. ) that you’ve carried on for awhile that you want to be sure is on your bucket list. So, the empty template might work best for you. Others might not want to have to think about it and use the pre-filled option. Whatever the case, plan out what excites you, is affordable, and something you will be sure to make time to do! It will be fun to see how the list changes over the years and all you’ve been able to accomplish!
It’s perfectly okay if you’ve already begun a few things. We are going over our family bucket list tonight and will immediately be able to cross of 3 or 4 things that have already been completed. It will just make it that much more motivating for the kids to finish the remaining activities. Over the past weekend, we took them to see a lights display and an electric lights parade. These experiences help shift our focus from the litany of things we need to get done….to simply enjoying time with those around you!
Whether for a child or adult, single or married, anyone can join in on the fun! It can be the smallest of things, like setting up your nativity set or grabbing a cup of hot cocoa with a friend, to the most grand adventures like a ski trip to Colorado or experiencing the magic of Mickey during Christmas at Disney World. Whatever it might be, make it happen!
One thing we put on our list this year is the REVERSE ADVENT CALENDAR. I love to try and teach my kids the importance of giving back…that it’s not all about you and receiving presents. Instead of the standard advent calendar, where you get a little surprise each day, we are doing a REVERSE one, similar to one like THIS! Check it out…love the principles it teaches about selflessness and generosity! Just let the creativity flow and get everyone involved. It can be fun and rewarding, all at the same time! There is no right or wrong way to construct yours.
If you have younger kiddos like me, hopefully you will enjoy the DEAR SANTA LETTER! It’s always fun to save these and go back year after year to read them. When they are adults, they will surely get a laugh or smile reading them and looking back on their requests and what were their interests in childhood! Great keepsakes, for sure!
For the individual lists and letters or to get them all in a bundle, check out my ETSY shop above!
If you live in the Midwest like us, you’re currently experiencing the effects of Blizzard Bruce. Good ole Bruce dumped a hefty amount of snow on all of us, which serves as a wonderful chance to get going on these bucket lists! Get at it, guys.
HAPPIEST OF HOLIDAYS TO YOU ALL & HAVE A WONDERFUL WINTER SEASON!
