Mother’s Day Celebration…

I’m coming to realize that the small things in life make up the big things. It’s moments like these that you will remember the rest of your life.  Mother’s Day was this last weekend and it was a time for me to reflect on my wonderful mom and all the other amazing ones out there! I, like many others, have been blessed with an amazing family, but more importantly, with a mama like no other! I especially have realized this over the past few months. With wedding planning at its crux and the end of my work year fastly approaching, I’ve had a tad bit of stress, to say the least, on my plate each night for dinner.  I think we all tend to, from time to time, take people that we love so much for granted.  So, whether I’ve shown my gratitude or appreciation as much as she deserves it, I hope she was able to tell how much she means to me on Mother’s Day. And folks, it wasn’t just ME. My niece and nephew absolutely think the world of her, too. To show how much he loves his grandma, Dylan decided to help me bake a cake for her. He took the bull by its horns and baked a MEAN cake!!  Of course, he had to do what every kid longs for…….just couldn’t contain the urge to…

I mean, licking is the BEST part!  It’s probably the only reason I ever wanted to help my mom bake when I was younger.  Whether it was cookie batter or cake frosting, I always looked forward to licking the sweet remnants off the giant mixing spoon.  In his case, it was the blender!   Hey, it sufficed! Needless to say, grandma loved his cake and enjoyed every last crumb of it.   In order to spoil her even more, Dylan was ready for some decorating!  With one roll of streamers and a bag of balloons, you sure can keep an 8 year old occupied for a few hours.  And so it began…… the testing of static electricity was the first priority!!

Once all was said and done, the dining room had been transformed into a pink and red palace….with chilled champagne for mimosas and bright, beautiful flowers to adorn the table!

Mother’s Day turned out wonderful.  and With it came a lot of good laughs, fun games, tasty food, and most of all, a full day with FAMILY!  What else can one ask for???

Our queens for the day!! Two of the best moms you’ll ever know….
