So, this letter is long overdue….as I am soon approaching 7 months of pregnancy. I’ve kept a journal of my experiences and had the best of intentions on posting here more frequently, but the holiday season just overtook and got the best of me! But, I promised myself that I would write as much or often as I could to remember my journey leading up to motherhood. I wanted the memories to be etched in my brain forever.
Letter # 2 – Revealing the News!!
There are feelings I wish I could capture in a jar and never let escape. I don’t ever want to forget what it was like to share with everyone the news about you. Since finding out we were going to have a baby, I just couldn’t wait to share this exciting moment with all of our family and friends! Now, you should know, that your mama can be quite impatient, especially when she is really happy about something! As soon as I found out I was pregnant, it was very hard to contain this secret from the rest of the world! The first person I couldn’t wait to tell was your dad. He had absolutely no idea that his life was about to change for the very best! He was at work when I found out and I only had a few hours to spare before it was time to reveal the news.
I thought about what I would actually say to him when he got home, but I knew I would be too excited, anxious and nervous for the words to come out the way I planned/hoped. So, I decided to create a balloon display that would reveal this special little secret to him. I went to the store and bought 11 white balloons. When I came home, I wrote a message on each card stating the many different reasons that I love him. These led up to the final note….
AND….the very last card revealed this message to him!
All of these messages were put into the envelopes
that were labeled, “I love you because…”
I taped the messages to the bottom of each balloon string and filled the space with balloons! This room will be your nursery in the very near future 🙂
Something I want you to know and always remember is how amazing your dad is. He will teach you so many things and set such a positive example in your life. He will make you laugh, challenge you, compliment you, make you feel confident, take you on fun adventures, and never stop believing in you. He will always put your needs before his and make you feel so special!
He is an incredible person and I hope you grow up to be just like him!
Before we could spill the beans with anyone, we wanted to see you first….at the doctor’s office! The ultrasound at our first appointment showed us what you looked like at just 9 weeks. It was nothing short of amazing.
To hear your heartbeat and see you moving was pure joy!
Once we had our very first picture of you, it was time to tell the family. Both of your grandpas had birthdays around the corner, so we wanted to think of a unique gift they could open! Grandpa Vasel is a Cardinals fan and Grandpa Sweeney is a Bears fan……so these ornaments were going to be perfect for the Christmas tree this year! Boy, were they elated when they found out!
Telling people about you has been one of the happiest moments in our life. It’s something we didn’t want to ever end….the surprise, the look on someone’s face when they found out, the overwhelming sense of happiness shared by all. I wish I could go back and hit the replay button over and over again. It is an emotion that will never fade or get old,
no matter how much time passes. I will savor it forever.
I hope you never forget how much love will surround you on a daily basis….
