Welcome back to Thrifty Thursday!
Things have been super busy for me this past month. My dining room table was hidden under paper, glue, tape, scissors, glitter, yarn, rhinestones….you name it. Pretty much everything and anything craft related covered this poor piece of furniture. It looked as if my craft bin had exploded and everything landed precisely on my dining room table.
You know how some people pull up to the window of the drive thru at Starbucks and the barista immediately recognizes you….greeting you by name? Well, that has become me at Michaels and Hobby Lobby. I’ve become quite a familiar face to the cashiers these days at many of their stores. Frequent shopper is an understatement. They really should have some type of reward/points program, considering the amount of shopping I do there!
Ok, I digress. Point being, there are many projects I’ve been excitedly working on. Besides my son’s Halloween Costume I made for him this year, the majority of my time and energy have been devoted to a baby shower I was asked to help plan. I’m not so sure why this lovely lady trusted ME enough to contribute, but I took the chance and thought, “Why not?! This will be fun!
And then….I found out it was for TWINS. There sure was a lot of pressure to make this event extra special and unique. I wanted to be sure that the “Twin” aspect was conveyed as much as possible throughout the shower decor. Most baby shower items are singular, lending itself to one baby. It was going to be a bit of a challenge to find items with a twin theme. After much searching,
I realized that much of it would need to be created.
To begin the process, I made a variety of mood boards to help determine the theme of the baby shower. It was important to figure out the color scheme and overall feel. She wanted something fun, chic, glamorous, and girly…with a pop of color! When you initially begin the search for baby shower ideas, you quickly realize that there are SO MANY options out there. You wouldn’t believe how many baby showers embody the traditional “soft and pastel” feel.
This baby shower needed to be different and unlike any of the rest.
And…that’s when it came about:
DIAMONDS AND DIVAS
A GLAMOROUS BABY SHOWER FOR TWO LITTLE PRINCESSES!
Almost everything for this shower was DIY and something you can do, too! I’ll do my best to explain how each item was made, where you can buy the materials, AND some free printables for you to use. First up….
BABY Bling picture frames.
Find yourself four pictures frames. The most inexpensive route to go is the dollar store, Goodwill, or IKEA. They don’t have to be fancy or have an intricate design. Actually, the plainer they are…the better. Find yourself a small can of spray paint in your party colors. Then, try to find fun scrapbook paper that goes along with your theme. For this, polka dots matched the invitations, so a sparkly version is just what the doctor ordered. Cut the pieces to fit the frame. Then find any kind of letters you would like…wood, metal, cardboard, etc. You can paint the letters, add glitter…whatever embellishments you’d like. These rhinestone letters couldn’t have been more fitting!
It just made the frames really stand out!
One of the hardest decisions for the shower was the invitations. While it needed to be girly and chic, the baby component was still the most important aspect. If you just had hot pink and polka dots, it could feel like a wedding or bachelorette party. But there are really easy ways to make it feel a certain way with the addition of a cute quote or saying. In this case, the adorable saying, “Tutus, High Heels, Diamonds and Pearls…..We’re so excited to welcome twin girls” was added. It made all the difference in the world and helped guide the rest of the baby shower decorations!
BABY SHOWER INVITATIONS
These gorgeous inviations were created by 4UPrintableDesigns on Etsy.
She made the book inserts to match and can customize anything you need!
The “Two Little Princesses” Envelope Sticker was created by me and can be downloaded for free, HERE!! These can also be used as favor tags,
on name cards…whatever you deem fit!
NEXT UP ARE THE FAVORS!!
We’ve all been to a shower or two when you receive a favor that seems like a waste of money. You most likely have no use for it and it winds up getting left behind. It was important that these favors were what a 20/30/40 something year old would use…more than once. With that being said, who doesn’t love ESSIE nail polish? Everyone wears pink at one point of the year or another, right? It’s a cute color and the rhinestone cosmetic mirror that fits inside your purse is the perfect item to accompany.
The Essie nail polish color is Watermelon.
The rhinestone cosmetic mirrors can be found at Michael’s or Amazon.
The “Bling Babies” circular tag can be downloaded for free, HERE!
MOVING ON TO TABLE TOPPERS!
There are so many ways you can add that special touch to a party. These quote frames were my favorite to create. They can adorn the gift table, entryway table, or any place that needs some extra pizazz. The pink pedestal frames were very inexpensive and are double sided. If you really want to add some POP to the tables, place one of these on each plate as a name card on one side and a picture or quote on the other side! To stick within the theme, I used paper that matched the invitations. The black and white vertical stripes were napkins from Target and the polka dot and gold were super sparkly paper from Hobby Lobby and Michaels. For this shower, three different
print designs were created and used…
For the adorable pregnant lady and baby carriage artwork, be sure to check out Birds Party Shop and check out many of their other fabulous designs.
The hot pink pedestal frames can be purchased HERE (Michaels).

LAST, BUT NOT LEAST…Centerpieces!
One of the most frustrating parts of sitting at a table is when the centerpiece is so tall and/or bulky that you can’t carry a conversation with the person sitting across from you. The goal here was to have a centerpiece that was sparkly, girly, PINK, & narrow enough to see everyone at the table!
Trying to stay within a budget can be hard when fresh flowers are added into the mix, especially if you have a large guest list! This can break the bank real quick. Have no fear, because there are many options available that won’t burn a hole in your pocket on one aspect of the party. These centerpieces cost less than $30 each compared to one with fresh flowers at a minimum of $50+.
The hot pink flower charger gave the entire display a more feminine feel. If you add some hot pink sparkly paper in the center of the flower (cut out in a circular shape) and throw some crystal like diamonds around the vase,
it is sure to make a statement!
The white vase used was very sleek and tall. The picks that were tucked inside were hot pink and silver sparkly bead balls that added great texture. The white peony feather puffs provided a little bit of depth and dimension to the arrangement It’s kind of tough to tell through these photos, but the centerpieces sure did sparkle! It was a perfect mix of glamour and glitz that you can’t get with ordinary flowers !
