that Northern Illinois has yet to see snow on the ground! I can’t complain because there really isn’t all that much to do in the midwest when it snows. If we had mountains nearby, we could ski or snowboard. But, we aren’t quite that fortunate. So, I’m taking you back to Fall, because the temps lately feel somewhat like this season. It is currently December 29th in the infamous Windy City and the weather has been so strange. As I drove past Villa Olivia (our local mini sledding/ski hill) today, I saw that fake snow was being blown from the pumps. I thought to myself, “What a shame….it’s going to be in the upper 40’s tomorrow and all of that will go to waste”. So, I decided to share some photos from this past October and showcase our trip to the pumpkin farm. I guess better late than never, as the saying goes! Last year, like usual, we went to Sonny Acres Pumpkin Farm and went to town there with my camera. But this time, we traveled a bit farther to a place that had an apple orchard. Now, this spot was chosen very carefully because it was one of few, with none other than, HONEYCRISP apples (Yes, that deserved cap locks). For anyone who has not had a chance to try this apple, you’re missing out! Simply can’t find a better kind out there. They typically are grown in Michigan and Wisconsin, so it’s not easy to find an orchard in this area that grows them. Anyhow, Kyle and I took our niece and nephew there for the day and it was a blast! Times like these always bring out my inner child….
I think this is quickly becoming one of my favorite seasons because of the stunning colors and the variety of smells that overcome you. Bonfires, flowers, pumpkins……just to name a few!
